The Contradiction

The Contradiction (2016) shows the Maasai people, who live in Southern Kenya and Northern Tanzania, with some of the most popular touristic areas of East-Africa surrounding their villages. Their land is taken over by hotels, lodges and game reserves, which makes it difficult for them to keep their lives as traditional as it used to be, or even to survive. Paradoxically, the sadness of it all, is the way they are somehow forced to cooperate with tourism as now their main source of income. They welcome busses filled with tourists every day to show them their villages, putting up a show with traditional dances, making a fire and showing their homes from the inside. A shadow casts upon them, without much hope for light.
